Wireless Location Change
Normally UseAlibi sets your location as a live simulation: it holds only while your iPhone is connected, and your phone snaps back to its real GPS the moment you unplug. Freezing is different — it leaves your last set location in place so your iPhone keeps reporting it after you disconnect, with no cable and nothing running on your PC.
How to freeze your location
- Set your location. Connect your iPhone and drop a spot in Place Mode as usual.
- Confirm it took. Make sure the new location shows correctly on the phone — open Maps and check it's centered where you set it.
- Turn off Developer Mode. On the iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode and switch it off. This ends the developer session while leaving your last location in place, instead of clearing it.
- Unplug. Your iPhone now holds that location on its own.
Freezing holds one fixed point. A frozen location is static — it can't move or run a Trip. Live movement needs an active connection.
Undoing a freeze
To return to your real GPS, either restart your iPhone — which clears the frozen location right away — or turn Developer Mode back on under Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode, reconnect, and set a new location.
Good to know
- Static only. A freeze holds a single point — no trips or live movement.
- Some apps notice. A few apps can tell a location isn't updating live, so a frozen spot won't look identical to a live one everywhere.
- It's temporary. Restarting the iPhone returns you to real GPS.
- Reversible anytime by reconnecting or restarting.
