Installation & Setup
Set up your iPhone
Your phone needs three things: a cable, your trust, and Developer Mode. The in-app guide walks you through all of them and confirms each one actually worked.
1. Connect and trust
- Plug in your iPhone with a typical charging cable. No special hardware needed.
- Unlock the phone and tap "Trust" when iOS asks whether to trust this computer, then enter your passcode.
2. Enable Developer Mode
iOS keeps the Developer Mode switch hidden until something asks for it. UseAlibi triggers that, then points you to the toggle: Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode. Turn it on and let the phone restart — iOS requires the reboot.
Can't find the toggle? Keep the phone plugged in and re-run the setup guide from Settings → Help. The switch only appears while a developer service is requesting it.
3. Verify
Back in UseAlibi, the guide shows a green check for every completed step. When the status pill reads Connected, you're done — pick a spot in Place Mode and watch the pin move.
Troubleshooting
- Phone not detected: try another cable or USB port, and make sure the phone is unlocked.
- Trust prompt never appeared: unplug, reconnect, and keep the phone unlocked.
- Cable dropped mid-session: nothing to do — UseAlibi reconnects automatically when it's back.
